People
Well I haven't updated in a while so I guess I should give an update now. I've been working at TGIF's near Knotts for about 3 or 4 weeks. Working at TGIF's is pretty good my co-workers there are nice and cool. Since I've been working at a restaurant I get to see many many different kinds of people/customers: mean people, nice people, rude people, and complete jerks.
My job at TGIF's is basically a bus boy and a food runner, helps bring the food out to the customer, so while I do my job I observe the people that I'm serving/cleaning up after. Interestingly I found that if one wants to see all the negative qualities of man that one can find it working in a restaurant. Some of you may call this odd for me to come up with this but I believe that this is true.
My reasoning behind this is that the customer is completely oblivious to what is going on in the kitchen, with their server, their food, etc. Due to this the guest expects everything to be perfect when they receive their meal. I'm guilty of this too, but now I'm more understanding so I won't get mad if my food takes a little bit longer to come out cause I know the possible problems that could arise. Also all the employees must "leave their problems at the door" according to the company's policy. Although it is sort of difficult since someone may be coping with the death of a loved one, but they have to smile and say "hi I'm ___ and I'll be your server this evening."
Another thing is that the mean people can totally bring someone down. Since this server that I know got two tables who were being complete jerks to him, but I knew him as a nice guy since he came up and talked to me when I first started. Its stuff like that that sort of makes me feel bad because at one time or another I could've been that jerk. Although when you get the nice guests/cool guests then that brings your spirits up.
Alright I'm not sure if my reasoning makes since cause I decided to reflect upon this and it may have come out differently in my mind than when I started writing. Oh well, my apologies to readers who find this reasoning illogical and stupid.
